About The Author

Hi, welcome to wilfulwoman.

I want to get us thinking again.

I’m Rechelle; a teacher, a reader, a writer, an adventurer, passionate about philosophy, Mum to three energetic (are there any other kind) boys and married to a very Polish man. We live on the beautiful and aptly named Sunshine Coast in Australia.

We moved here 5 years ago, after a lengthy stint living and working in the UK. It was there that I indulged in travel, taught in a culturally diverse East London Secondary school and met my husband.

I love teaching and learning in general, but my secret passion is writing and home-grown philosophy of the everyday, not the university kind.

Thinking, reflecting and trying to learn how we can enjoy each day and make the most of our unique experience while we’re here, is what this site is all about.

WHY are you here?

Maybe, like me you too love thinking about ‘stuff’, pondering our lot in life and trying to make sense of it all. Our lives have become so busy and we’re all running round at such a frenetic pace, that it’s easy to lose sight of the bigger picture.

Taking the time to reflect and on some basic level, apply philosophy to our everyday experiences might just be the best place to start, if we want to lead more meaningful lives.

There are so many people, places, opportunities that life offers up and I’m just a little determined to take something from each of these (everyday if possible), in an effort to learn more about me, us and our place in this ever changing, pretty awe inspiring world.

But it’s not all take.

Sometimes in our busy lives, the priority is just to ‘get by’ or to ‘make it’ to the weekend and yes, I’m right there with you. Between toilet training twin toddlers, doing a school run, teaching and trying to have some skerrick of a social life, there’s not much left in the tank some days.

But there is more to it than that.

There’s the full gamut of experiences on offer and the idea ofCicero exploring them…. all of them; good, bad and the darn right weird too. It’s what we’re here to do.

I’m trying (and that is the operative word ‘trying’) to think a bit more about life and our everyday experiences and hopefully, offer up a fresh way to view them.

I love reading, writing, being active (to balance out all that sitting involved in the former) and listening and talking to people.

In the absence of being a published author with some clout, this blog is an outlet for me but also more importantly, I hope a place where you can sit down with a cuppa at the end of a busy day, read, relax and most importantly, reflect on all our own experiences offer us everyday.

If we could read ourselves and our experiences the way we do a book, what amazing things we could learn.
